Al Rayyan Head of Football Ali Salem Ofaifah refused to comment about Al Rayyan’s chances of winning the Qatar Stars League title this season. He said the path to the league title was still long and that they were still at the beginning of their campaign with some 20 QSL Rounds remaining.
He said, “The team put the derby game behind them and have already started focusing on the coming match versus Lekhwiya in Round 7 of the QSL. Everyone is taking about us winning, which is great but it’s still too early to speak about the league title.”
He added, “The keen interest in the Al Arabi game wasn’t due to the match atmosphere or the fans interest, but because Al Rayyan places the same amount of importance on each and every game.”
He pointed out that Al Rayyan and its players are professionals who look at the Al Arabi fixture as an important three points in their league campaign.
Ofaifah praised the huge amount of spectators who attend their matches and said that the fans support has given the Lions an extra boost going forward.
Al Rayyan is yet to lose a match and is sitting pretty in first place with 18 points
