Qatar has strongly condemned the explosion that targeted the Al-Mashad mosque in the Saudi city of Najran during the Maghreb prayer on Monday. In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said “such a criminal act contradicts with all moral and humanitarian values and principles as well as teachings of Islam”, stressing Qatar’s backing for Saudi Arabia and its full support for actions taken in order to promote security and stability. The ministry expressed concern over the increasing blasts that target mosques and innocent worshippers and aim to undermine security and create strife and sectarianism. It stressed Qatar’s absolute rejection of violence and criminality whatever the motives and causes are.
