Qatar Music Academy (QMA), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), recognised Occidental Petroleum of Qatar Ltd (Oxy Qatar) recently, for its generous sponsorship of music education activities within the local community.
Oxy Qatar has been an active partner in fulfilling QMA’s goal of providing exceptional music education programmes to the community. QMA also supports QF’s commitment to community development and enhanced understanding of arts and culture in Qatar through music.
The sponsorship funds were primarily used to purchase niche Arabic and Western instruments and equipment.
Dr Abdul Ghafour al- Heeti, QMA principal, commented: “QMA’s mission is to develop promising young talent from Qatar and the region and help them become the next generation of world-class musicians. Oxy Qatar has generously donated funds for a third time and has continued to enable QMA to provide the best quality equipment and experience for students who want to further their musical education.”
Previous donations from Oxy Qatar have funded new musical instruments, library materials and state of the art music technology for QMA’s music laboratory.
Steve Kelly, president and general manager of Oxy Qatar said: “Oxy Qatar continues to support local art, culture and heritage through our partnership with Qatar Music Academy, which began in 2012. We are delighted that the new musical and electronic equipment will become part of the already wide variety of musical instrument resources available for students and professors.”
