Al-Ageel delivers a speech during the workshop.

The Gulf Organisation for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) has recently conducted a training workshop on “Production Management and Quality Control for Industrial SMEs” at GOIC’s Doha headquarters.
GOIC secretary general Abdulaziz bin Hamad al-Ageel said the workshop gathered participants from Ministry of Energy and Industry (Qatar), Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Oman), Middle East Propulsion Company (MEPC), Rabigh Plus Teck Park, Qatar National Import and Export Company (QNIE), and the Arabian United Float Glass (UFG).
He said the workshop was led by Dr Basel Shadid, who introduced problem-solving tools and basic statistical concepts, process control and process capability plans, acceptance sampling, and attribute controls.
During the training, the participants discussed the productivity elements and quality dimensions, as well as several cost and waste-reduction strategies. They also reviewed quality control and quality improvement techniques with focus on their relation to productivity.
Al-Ageel, who distributed certificates of completion to workshop participants, reiterated GOIC’s thrust to provide continuous training to build the capacities of the industrial workforce in both public and private sectors of GCC countries.
He said GOIC will offer a number of training workshops to develop human capacities and professional skills of the industrial labour force, notably the “Methods of Collecting and Processing Industrial Data” and a free training on “The Relationship between Economic Indicators and the Industrial Sector” in the last quarter of 2015.
“Currently, GOIC is finalising its training schedule for 2016 as part of its thrust to support the industrial sectors of the region and stimulate the economies of GCC countries,” al-Ageel said.
He added that GOIC offers a number of training workshops in various fields through its Training and Capacity Development Programme (TCD), which seeks to promote individual and organisational capacities of the industrial sector in the GCC countries and Yemen.
