Premier wellness brand VLCC has joined hands with Qatar Cancer Society to create awareness about breast cancer.
During the month-long campaign, VLCC staff will wear co-branded pink uniform. House events feature presentations by VLCC dietitians on early detection through self-examination and explain the benefits of antioxidants food and special detox to prevent breast cancer.
“Women may reduce their risk of breast cancer by maintaining a healthy weight, not drinking alcohol, being physically active and breastfeeding their children,” said Vandana Luthra, the founder of VLCC Group.
The benefits with moderate exercise such as brisk walking are seen at all age groups including postmenopausal women, healthy diet that includes omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids appear to reduce the risk as well.
“We at VLCC design special strategies that encourage a healthy diet, regular physical activity and reduce obesity which could also have other benefits, such as reduced risks of cardiovascular disease and diabetes,” she explained.
Signs of breast cancer may include a lump in the breast, a change in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the breast, or a red scaly patch of skin. In those with distant spread of the disease, there may be bone pain, swollen lymph nodes, shortness of breath, or yellow skin.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, with 98% survival rate when detected at early stages, a healthy diet and exercise routine can reduce the chance for breast cancer by nearly 40%.
