After the opening ceremony, the Director-General of Public Security, HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, toured the pavilions at the exhibition.
The third edition of the GCC Coast Guard Week has opened at the Museum of Islamic Art park where different government departments and private companies are showcasing the latest naval security devices and equipment.
HE Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, Director General of Public Security, led the opening ceremony attended by directors of different departments and delegates from GCC Coast Guards.
Staff Major General al-Khulaifi noted that the event would help enhance co-operation between departments concerned in GCC countries through the exchange of information and experiences.
He said the Coast Guard Week aims to raise public awareness on naval safety and security procedures.
After the opening ceremony the Director-General of Public Security toured pavilions of companies participating in the exhibition.
He was briefed on the services they provide and examined the devices and equipment used by the Coasts and Borders Security Department and the advanced means of rescue at sea.
He encouraged people to visit the exhibition at MIA park for them to further understand the modern security procedures followed by the State’s Coast Guard Security and other agencies.
Staff Brigadier (Navy) Ali Ahmad al-Budaid, Director General of the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, said entertainment, educational and awareness activities will be held as part of the celebrations.
“Members of the public can get practical information on safety procedures to be followed by sea goers, swimmers and watercraft riders,” he said. “Visitors will have the opportunity for short sea trips in the boats of General Administration of Coasts and Borders Security.”
Participants of the exhibition include Coast Guard Security Department, Civil Defence, Traffic, Lakhwiya, Al Fazaa, Medical Services Department, Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohol Affairs, Qatar Police Sports Federation, Penal and Correctional Institutions Department, Community Policing Department, Police Training Institute, Police Canine Section and private agencies working in the field of naval security equipment.
The week is organised by the Interior Ministry’s Coasts and Borders Security Department under the slogan “For Your Safety Co-operate with us”.
