Doha Municipality has issued 1,333 building permits, more than 400 demolition permits and 429 maintenance permits during January- October this year.
The municipality has also processed around 1,000 applications and requests within its administrative jurisdiction.
Abdulaziz Hassan al-Ubaidan, director of Technical Affairs Department at Doha Municipality, told reporters yesterday that most building violations comprise building on the excess spaces of land and not abiding by the required setbacks, in addition to the outer paint of the building and reducing the number of parking lots without prior approval.
He pointed out that that are violations where reconciliation can be done by paying a fine and the building would continue as it is, while others can be reconciled by only by removing the violation, in addition to paying a fine of up to QR100,000.
The official added that the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has created a special unit to follow up and remove building violations.
