Investment to the tune of about $7bn is expected in Qatar’s hospitality sector in the next few years, a senior official of a leading event organiser said yesterday while announcing the schedule of ‘Hospitality Qatar’ expo.
To be held at the Doha Exhibition Centre from October 13-15, the event under the patronage of HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani, has attracted 111 exhibitors from 12 countries.
“There will be country pavilions from Germany, Italy, China, India, the UAE, Romania, Lithuania, Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan besides Qatar,” IFP Qatar CEO George Ayache said.
The event, licensed by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), will feature different aspects of the hotel and franchise market in the Gulf and represent a platform for local, regional and international chains.
“Nearly 10,000 people are expected to visit the expo, which would be held over a 5,000sqm space,” the official said. The event will also feature a business to business platform, hosting buyers from among the top hotels and others involved in the hospitality industry.
InterContinental Doha The City general manager Pascal Egegrstedt, Elegancia Hospitality business development manager Khalid Yousef, Askar Group’s director of operations Imad Askar, Boecker country manager - salon culinaire Carla Ghaleb and Qatar Culinary Professionals Association chairman Baran Yucel also spoke on the occasion.
