The Primary Healthcare Corporation (PHCC) will launch triage system at the Airport Health Centre from October 1.
The PHCC has announced that from October 1, the patients who visit the health centre without prior appointment will be checked and assessed clinically by a well-trained team of medical professionals who will classify them according to their medical needs.
Accordingly, those found in need of urgent treatment will see the doctor first. The remaining patients having routine needs will be given an appointment on the same day or later. The triage system is aimed at discovering the urgent cases and respond to it immediately, which will reflect on the quality of the services provided.
The PHCC plans to launch the triage system at the health centres at Abu Nakhla, Mesaimeer, Al Shehaniya, Al Gharafa, Al Thayen, West Bay, Omar Bin Kattab, Al Rayyan, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal and Madinath Khalifa and will complete the process in due course by this year and next year.
The PHCC recently conducted a study at the health centres that have already applied the triage system which pointed out that 91% of patients had to wait only for a short duration and had benefited greatly from the new appointment system.
