The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has registered 30 violations during an inspection campaign conducted ahead of Eid al-Adha.
During the campaign, inspections were carried out at several markets and shops, selling a variety of products, with the aim of ensuring that prices remained stable and the commercial outlets complied with consumer protection laws.
The violations included not displaying prices clearly, increasing prices without obtaining the ministry’s approval, not issuing purchase invoices and receipts and others. The penalties for such offences range from fines to closure.
The establishments covered during the MEC campaign included shops selling children’s clothes and other items, sweets, nuts, fruits and vegetables, fish and readymade garments, as well as salons, tailors and others.
The ministry has warned traders and suppliers against exploiting the Eid al-Adha season through any practices that may jeopardise consumer rights.
Consumers have been urged to report violations through the following communication channels: hotline (16001), email ([email protected]), Twitter (@MEC_Qatar), Instagram (MEC_Qatar) and the MEC mobile app for Android and IOS (MEC_Qatar).
