Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al-Thani Museum (FBQ Museum) has announced a programme of activities and family events during Eid al-Adha holidays.
Families are invited to celebrate the Eid holiday at the museum with a special tour accompanied by experienced tour guides around the collections.
This is in addition to a series of six artistic workshops and activities that are being organised for children.
Children can choose from Lego and colours, painting, calligraphy, clay sculpture and drawing workshops, all led by experts in the relevant fields. The Lego programme will motivate children to discover new ways of learning through a combination of educational tools.
The colouring workshop is specifically designed for children to draw and colour artworks that inspire them the most from the collectibles displayed at Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Museum.
The sculpture workshop will offer training on how to use various modulation methods to make small scale models. This activity will promote complete artistic freedom so that they can come up with different forms and shapes to convey their creative vision.
The participants of the drawing workshop will have a chance to walk along the corridors of Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Museum and see the collectibles. They can then produce their own impressions of the pieces and artwork.
Through the use of magazines, newspapers and recycled paper, participants will learn to develop creative artwork through collage. In addition to the artistic side of this workshop, the activity will highlight the importance of recycling and how it helps preserve the environment.
The calligraphy workshop will allow participants to identify different types of Arabic calligraphy, and its uses in different art forms and objects. They will be able to distinguish the different styles of Arabic Calligraphy to produce artwork themselves.
The museum opens its doors to visitors during the days of Eid from 9am until 5 pm. Visitors can pre-book their activities and workshops through e-mail ([email protected], or [email protected])where they can also inquire about the musuem’s events and happenings in general.
