Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) head of Legal and Corporate affairs receives the “Most Inspiring Woman Award” in behalf of MOQ reservoir engineer Fatima Mahmoud.

An engineer at Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) has received the “Most Inspiring Woman Award” during the annual Arabian Business Qatar awards held recently at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Doha.
“I am extremely honoured to be receiving this award and I am overwhelmed for being selected to receive an award from another major publication in the region. Working at MOQ is an excellent opportunity for me and other female engineers,” said MOQ reservoir engineer Fatima Mahmoud.
She added: “Together with Qatar Petroleum (QP), Maersk Oil has developed a unique understanding of this unique offshore oilfield. And to be recognised for my role in this work, is truly inspiring. I hope that this recognition can serve as an inspiration for other females in Qatar and the GCC to pursue a career in the oil and gas sector.”
Mahmoud was also recognised on previous occasions for her outstanding performance in the oil and gas sector. In 2014, she received the “Female Achiever of the Year” award at the Middle East Oil and Gas awards ceremony.
According to MOQ, Mahmoud was also identified as a potential future leader in the company “and willingly accepts additional challenges to stretch and develop herself.”
“She is an asset to the company and to Maersk Oil female employees’ network, as well as to the state of Qatar,” MOQ added.
In 2004, Mahmoud was recognised by HH Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for achieving the second-best high school results in the whole of Qatar.
Mahmoud graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in chemical engineering in 2009, and has since been working for MOQ where she is “a highly-valued and productive member” at the Reservoir Management in Asset department. She is currently pursuing study-leave in the UK.
