The week-long Qatar Aeronautical College Career Fair has opened to familiarise secondary school graduates with the college’s disciplines and to attract them to join the institution.
The fair provides an opportunity for students to get paid scholarships provided by organisations such as the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), Qatar Airways (QA) and Gulf Helicopters Company (GHC), in addition to a monthly salary and a job opportunity after graduation.
Hassan al-Emadi, of Qatar Airways’ Al Darb Qatarisation Programme, said the airline offers a civil aviation training programme and aircraft maintenance engineering for Qatari males and females at the aeronautical college. He said students applying for enrollment in the college have to sit for an acceptance examination prior to starting the programme which lasts between two to three years.
The college was founded in 1975 as the Civil Aviation College of the Gulf States.
QAC is now the Gulf region’s leading provider of training for the aviation industry. It offers full-time, approved courses for pilots, aircraft maintenance engineers, air traffic controllers, meteorologists, airport operations management personnel and flight dispatchers, as well as short courses in a wide variety of aviation-related disciplines.
