Al Sadd resume training after win over Mesaimeer
Al Sadd resumed training Saturday evening on their training pitches following the 6-3 win over Mesaimeer in a preseason friendly held last Thursday. The match was part of the team’s preparations for the 2015-16 Qatar Stars League season.
The training session saw the participation of star midfielder Khalfan Ibrahim, who had been away from group recuperating after surgery on his lower abdomen. The operation was carried out in Munich back in early August. The playmaker will now try to regain his fitness as fast as possible ahead of the start of the QSL campaign which will start for the Wolves on September 13.
The technical staff were keen to implement a physical training regimen in order to keep the fitness levels of the players high, especially as they have been training since the 12th of July.
Later in the session, the players practiced with the ball, which included both offensive and defensive aspects of the game as well as drills to deal with the attacks on goal from deep and from the wings.
In their second friendly match in Doha after returning from their overseas training camp in Austria, Wolves defeated Mesaimeer 6-3, with Spanish star and team captain Xavi Hernandez, and Brazilian Muriqui scoring twice before the break. Hamza and Nasser Sankees scored one each in the second half.
Brazilian player Da Silva scored a hat-trick for Mesaimeer.
