Qatar Sports Club has drawn with the Spanish second division side Terrassa FC 1-1, the friendly was played on Tuesday in Spain where the QSL side is holding their pre-season training programme.
This was the second friendly for the Kings after playing La Plarada earlier this month, losing 3-1.
Terrassa took the lead and scored their only goal at the 48th minute in the second half. Ismail Belmeallem on his debut for the Kings managed to equalise in the 79th minute of the second half.
Qatar Sports Club’s Iraqi Head Coach Radhi Shenaishil was keen to field as many players as he could. Many of the players who were on the field were youth players who did well and impressed.
Youssef Hani Ballan who recently was injured during the preseason camp has returned back to Doha and will take two months to recover.
Al Wakrah officials present Filippo Inzaghi with pre-match gift
Al Wakrah Sports Club Sports Director Jassim al Tamimi presented his club’s official shield to Italian star Filippo Inzaghi before a friendly match against Lazio.
Al Wakrah lost 2-0 to Lazio as the club continues to prepare ahead of the new Qatar Stars League season which will start on September 11.
Inzaghi expressed his joy and appreciation with the kind gesture by Al Wakrah Sports Club and thanked Mr Jassim al Tamimi and wished the Al Wakrah delegation all the best.
Despite the loss, the Waves Head Coach José Mauricio said that the team benefitted greatly from the match and that he identified areas for improvement within the team.
Lekhwiya lose Costa Del Sol Cup to Malaga CF
Lekhwiya lost in the final of the Costa Del Sol Cup where they were beaten by Malaga 2-0. The match saw the Spanish side dominating, especially towards the end of the first half. The Spaniards finally broke the deadlock on the half hour mark through striker Charles Dias de Oliveira.
In the second half the team kept to the same formation and made no substitutions. Lekhwiya failed to create many chances and struggled offensively.
Malaga tried to increase their lead with some attacks, but Lekhwiya’s goalkeeper Claude Amine was up to the challenge.
Malaga then scored their second goal on the 77th minute courtesy of Portuguese midfielder Fábio Espinho.
Malaga kept up the pressure on Lekhwiya as they looked to score more goals, but Head Coach Djamel Belmadi brought on Ahmed Yasser who helped take off the pressure from the red’s goal.
The Red’s squad has now returned back to Doha and they will be focusing on the Asian Champions League quarter final against Saudi side Al Hilal on the 25th of August.
El Jaish draws with Hellas Verona in friendly
El Jaish Sports Club drew with the Italian side Hellas Verona in a preseason friendly 2-2 in Austria.
Abdel Qader Elias and Abdel Rahman Waleed scored for El Jaish in the 64th & 86th minute respectively. Luca Toni scored both goals for Hellas Verona in the 44th and 63rd minutes.
This was the second friendly for the Soldiers who had also played Austrian side LASK Linz beating them by five goals to nil.
