His myriad songs made childhood sweeter for some, while some are fans of his acting. TV stars like Vivian Dsena and Aishwarya Sakhuja have shared their memories of Kishore Kumar’s legacy ahead of the legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar’s 86th birth anniversary, which falls today.
Here’s what the celebrities had to say:
Ashish Chowdhry: My dad used to sing Kishore Kumar’s songs. I feel nostalgic whenever I hear his songs. Even during my college days when we used to hear hard rock songs, I would enjoy Kishore Kumar’s old songs as well. His songs Ghungroo ki tarah and Musafir hoon yaroon are my favorites.
Kishore Kumar was a multi-talented artist. I believe singing was his passion whereas acting was his hobby. He was one the most happy live performers. He could make as many faces as human emotions.
Vivian Dsena: Kishore Kumar is a legend. Apart from his singing, I respect him for his personality too. He was a successful singer, actor, director, producer and a fantastic human being. Yeh shaam mastani is my favourite.
Aishwarya Sakhuja: I have been listening to (songs of) Kishore Kumar since my childhood because my mother was a very big fan of Kishore-da and his singing, acting and as the person he was. So we had a small little deck in our house and all day long there used to be Kishore Kumar’s.
For me Ek ladki bheegi bhagi si has to be my favourite also because the way it was shot and also because it had Madhubala in it and again she is one of my favourite actresses. I even like this other song Paanch rupaiya barah aana. His songs always bring string to my step when I listen to his songs because his songs are usually very happy and slice of lime songs so whenever I feel a bit low or miserable in life I think he is the perfect singer to listen because it makes your day a little more liveable.
Gunjan Utreja: I have grown up listening to Kishore Kumar songs as my parents are very fond of music. It’s difficult to pick from so many amazing songs as each song has a life of their own. Perhaps Aanewala pal from Golmaal is one of my favorite songs of Kishore Kumar because it reminds us to live in the moment and make the most of it as I am a firm believer of that.
Amit Gaur: I have been listening to Kishore Kumar’s songs since I was a child and I love his music and voice. One of my favourite song is Rote hue aate hain sab. I think it’s a very apt song to be inspired from as we come crying into this world when we were born but live life to the fullest and smile and laugh when it’s time to leave this world as death is inevitable.
Ravi Dubey: Aisi haseen chandni from the film Dard is my favourite. Whenever I overwork or feel tired, I sleep listening to Kishore Kumar’s love hits. His voice makes me feel calm. Listening to Kishore Kumar in rainy nights with comfortable blankets is my idea of happiness.
Emily Blunt likely to
star in Captain Marvel
Actress Emily Blunt will reportedly star as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the upcoming female-led superhero movie. A new rumour regarding Captain Marvel has surfaced. Blunt is rumoured to play the title character in the upcoming movie, reports aceshowbiz.com. In the latest Meet the Movie Press episode, co-host El Mayimbe revealed that the 32-year-old star would be a likely candidate to take the role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. Back in April, a report surfaced that the studio wanted Charlize Theron to play the lead female character. However, there has been no confirmation about the casting as of now.
Danvers first debuted in 1968’s Marvel Super-Heroes. She was a US Air Force security chief who is transformed into Captain Marvel following an explosion.
Since there hasn’t been any director attached to the project, it seems like the makers will look for a director first before they start their casting search. In February, a source suggested that people behind the female-led superhero movie eyed Angelina Jolie to helm “Captain Marvel”. They reportedly offered her $20 million for the directing job.
Kevin Feige will produce the movie while Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve are writing the script. Captain Marvel is slated for a release in the US on November 2, 2018. — IANS

Sonakshi ‘can’t wait’ to
play Dawood’s sister
Actress Sonakshi Sinha is looking forward to essaying underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parkar on screen in filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming biopic Haseena - The Queen of Mumbai. She says the film has a “brilliant script” and she “can’t wait” to take on the role.
“It is a brilliant script… I can’t wait to play Haseena,” Sonakshi, who is currently shooting for Akira, posted on micro-blogging site Twitter after music composer Shekhar Ravjiani congratulated the 28-year-old for her next project.
Haseena Parkar, the elder sister of Dawood, died in July last year. She shot to fame after some rival gangsters led by Arun Gawli gunned down her husband Ismail Parkar in a gang war in 1991 which led to a spate of brutal retaliatory killings from the Dawood gang at that time.
Subsequently, Haseena was reportedly acting as the don’s Mumbai business head. Though officially she was not directly implicated in any underworld activities, it is believed that in parts of south Mumbai, nothing moved without her nod.
This is not the first time Sonakshi will be starring in an underworld film. She played Dawood’s love interest in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai Dobaara!, which was said to be based on the life of the fugitive don.
Haseena - The Queen of Mumbai will roll out for shooting early next year. It will bring alive 40 years of Haseena’s life and is the emotional saga of a woman and what it meant to be Dawood Ibrahim’s sister. — IANS
Kate Moss cancels
trip to be with family
Supermodel Kate Moss cancelled a trip to Ibiza this weekend after her estranged husband Jamie Hince was spotted with Victoria’s Secret Angel Jessica Stam. The 41-year-old was supposed to visit White Isle with singer Rita Ora and TV presenter Nick Grimshaw for an event. However, she was so worried “all eyes would be on her” so she went to Genoa, Italy with her daughter Lila and her father Jefferson Hack, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“Kate is not in a great place at the moment and she couldn’t face a weekend of partying. She felt that all eyes would be on her and if she looked miserable, it would get back to Jamie. To say she’s going through a difficult time would be an understatement,” The Sun newspaper quoted the source as saying.
Ora tried to persuade her to go to Ibiza as it would “cheer her up”, but it didn’t change her mind. The source added: “Rita was desperate for Kate to still come to Ibiza, as she thought it would really cheer her up. Even yesterday she was trying to convince her to change her mind.”
She “hated it when other women flirted with Jamie” and so when photographs surfaced of him with Jessica, it “really hurt her”. – IANS
