Barwa Bank has supported as Silver Sponsor the 6th Annual Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Middle East Conference, which was held from June 2 to 3 in Dubai.
Over two days, the Middle East’s largest corporate and investment banking event gathered more than 800 issuers, borrowers, investors, and bankers from top-tier institutions to discuss the latest developments in the local and international bond, syndicated loan, and sukuk markets.
The topics discussed during the event included the impact of low oil prices on the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) markets and successful lending to the real estate and Small and Medium-Sized (SME) sectors.
Barwa Bank head of Capital Financing Arsalaan Ahmed joined two panel discussions: the potential of non-traditional sukuk as a template for future issuance and a bridge between Islamic investors and global borrowers, and financing the GCC real estate in capital markets, covering construction and asset-based finance, deal structuring for developers and contractors, and capital versus bank loan markets.
Barwa Bank’s sponsorship of the conference falls under larger efforts to support economic sustainability and prosperity in Qatar and the region, in which forward thinking and cross-border Shariah-compliant banking is set to be a major driving force and contributor.
