The General Directorate of Traffic has opened offices in two insurance companies in Doha to investigate accidents and complete documentation.
The decision will help vehicle owners save time and ease procedure related to accident investigations, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Sunday.
The directorate has set up offices in Qatar Insurance Company and Bima Insurance Company in Doha.
Procedures for repairing not-at-fault vehicles and those vehicles which cause accidents can be completed at these offices without referring to the investigation department of the General Directorate of Traffic or any other traffic sections, the MoI said.
A traffic police officer will be on duty at the new offices to receive accident complaints, and investigate and complete documentation procedure, Captain Abdullah Misad Qasim, head of the Traffic Section at Mamoura, said.
These offices will deal with cases related to repairing damaged vehicles which are reconciled between the parties involved in the accident. In case of dispute between the parties, the traffic police office will investigate and decide who caused the accident.
The new service will be offered in other insurance companies in future, the MoI official added.
