Qatar University (QU) has achieved 11th place in the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2015, among the 100 top universities in the Middle East, Asia and Mena regions.
The achievement was announced at a ceremony in Dubai organised by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in partnership with UAE University and sponsored by the International English Language Testing System.
For the 2015 edition, 259 universities in the three regions were evaluated.
The event followed a half-day workshop presented by keynote speakers Baerbel Eckelmann, research manager at QS Intelligence Unit, London; Dr Kevin Downing, secretary to council and court, director of Knowledge, Enterprise and Analysis, City University of Hong Kong; and head of client relations at QS Asia Quacquarelli Symonds Singapore, Ashwin Fernandes.
Topics discussed were “QS University Rankings: Arab Region 2015 – exclusive trend analysis”, “The ranking of Arab universities and future strategy” and “Shining a light on your institution’s excellence using QS Stars”.
Welcoming the results, QU president Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad said: “Being selected among the top universities in the region is an important milestone for QU at a time when the institution is becoming a leader in academic excellence.”
