Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has issued a manual for contractors to adopt “best practices and prevent cable damages”. The manual is meant to increase their “technical awareness about the safety of the electrical cables when executing projects”. Kahramaa said that studies on network faults during 2012-2014 had found that cable damage by third party had contributed to most of them. The manual lists all technical procedures contractors should observe during excavation.
