Al Meera Consumer Goods Company has opened its newest branch in Thakhira, making it the supermarket chain’s 42nd outlet, including the five other outlets opened in Oman.
The new branch was built according to international standards “to provide customers with a convenient shopping experience, and will be serving Al Khor and Thakhira residents,” said Al Meera Deputy CEO Dr Mohamed Nasser al-Qahtani, who led the opening ceremony.
He said, “On our path to construct new branches across Qatar, we are supporting the development of new areas all around the state. This strategy is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Our motto, ‘Your Favourite Neighbourhood Retailer’ remains true, and our efforts are continuously directed at maintaining this position.”
He added, “Our team rushed construction work to open the Thakhira branch following the closing of the Al Khor branch in the last quarter of 2013. As a result, Al Khor and Thakhira residents can easily enjoy shopping at the new branch, thanks to its convenient location on the Thakhira highway.”
The 4,150sq m Thakhira branch features a 1,750sq m supermarket area. The store offers shoppers a wide variety of food and non-food related items, as well as fresh products.
The store includes a butchery, fishery, delicatessen, fruits and vegetables area, and bakery that cater to consumers’ various daily needs. In addition, the branch will feature five tenants from restaurants to shops to provide customers with additional services.
The new branch also boasts of state-of-the-art elements, from high-tech lighting to storage techniques and technologies. The branch’s world-class shelves reflect the company’s keenness to offer the best products display to customers and to allow them to shop for items efficiently.
Al-Qahtani also said Al Meera will be inaugurating four other branches this year in Al Wakrah, Al Thumama, Al Wajba, and Rawdat Ekdeem.
“Soon, Al Meera will begin works on the Al Khor branch as part of Al Meera’s expansion strategy to construct 14 new shopping malls across Qatar, located in Sailiya North, Bu Sidra, Al Wakrah 2, Umm Salal, Leabaib 1, Leabaib 2, Rawdat Aba El-Herran, Azghawa, Al Khor, Um Qarn, Rawdat Al Hamama, Jeryan Junaihat, Al Sailiya, and Ain Khaled,” he said.
He added, “Once completed, Al Meera will open the new branches after securing the necessary approvals and licenses from authorities making the company a supermarket chain of 56 branches spread across Qatar.”
According to al-Qahtani, Al Meera continues to rehabilitate its old branches to integrate them with new innovative concepts designed by international companies to meet the Qatari market requirements.
During the opening ceremony, al-Qahtani was joined by Central Municipal Council member Hamad Lahdan A al-Mohannadi, Khalaf bin Issa al-Bujumhour al-Muhannadi, Al Khor and Thakhira dignitaries, and Al Meera representatives.
