Iran won the Greco-Roman team title at the 2015 Asian Championships, but it was Korea’s duo of Ryu Hansu and Kim Hyeon-woo who stole the show yesterday at the Aspire Dome. Iran clinched the team title with 63 points, ahead of Kazakhstan (58) and China (57).
Ryu, the 2013 world champion, earned his second major regional championship title in eight months having won gold at the 2014 Asian Games. Ryu beat Mohammadali Geraei of Iran 5-0 to clinch gold in the 66kg category.  Later, World No.1 and 2012 Olympic champion Hyeon-woo dominated in the 75kg category. In the final, the Korean outplayed unranked Atabek Azisbekov Kazakhstan, who had earlier shocked World No.8 Payam Bouyeri Payani of Iran 6-4.
Iran’s one of the two gold medals on the final day came in 80kg, in what was the most exciting bout between unranked Aishan Aisha of China and No.18 Yousef Ghaderian.
Aishan jumped out to a 6-2 lead over a Ghaderian, but the Iranian came back to win the back-and-forth contest 13-6.
In the 98kg final, as No.7 Mahdi Abbas Aliyarifeizabadi of Iran beat Xiao Di of China 6-0. In the tournament’s final bout, 2014 Asian Games champion Nurmakhan Tinaliev of Kazakhstan edged World No.12 Meng Qiang of CHN 3-2 to earn gold.
