The first phase of the widening work of Legtaifiya Street in the West Bay has been completed and traffic is resumed through the newly built section of the road.
The work was carried out in the stretch between Al Jamiyaa Signal and Lagoon 5 round about.
Ashghal has said the work was completed in a little over two months starting from towards the end of February.
While widening the street one more lane was added on either side of the roads, making the total number of lanes on each side to three instead of earlier two.
The Phase 1 works also included the expansion of Lagoon 4 roundabout making it a three-lane roundabout.
The works in the Phase 2 are currently being carried out and likely to be completed within 40 days. The works, as per the schedule, are expected to be finished in the first week of June and included widening and realigning the road next to Lagoon 5 Roundabout. The present two-lane traffic on either side would be made three-lane on both the directions.
The Legtaifiya Roads Development and Expansion Project aims at increasing the efficiency of the road and enhancing traffic flow on the stretch between Al Jamiaa Signal and Lusail Street (Katara roundabout) in both directions.
The project also aims at easing the access to the West Bay Lagoon area, Katara cultural village, the Pearl Qatar and the neighboring areas.
Recently major expansion works of the roads leading to Al Asiri Interchange. were completed and it eased the traffic flow near Al Asiri Interchange and roads in its vicinity.
Ashghal received positive feedback from road users who noticed a significant improvement in the area's traffic flow.
