The Court of Cassation has ordered that a compensation of QR1,240,615 be paid to a Pakistani expatriate for being dismissed from his job at a local bank without valid reason, local daily Arrayah has reported.
The plaintiff was hired by the bank with a five-year contract in 2007 and got a bonus of QR300,000 in March 2008 for his work in the previous year.
His job responsibilities also changed with time and he became a member of the administrative committee, along with a hike in his salary. Later, he was promoted as a senior executive director.
However, when a new chairman was appointed by the bank, he was notified that his annual performance report was less than average. He was also charged with misleading the bank to attain personal gains and his services were terminated accordingly.
However, the court could not find any recorded or documented evidence to show that the plaintiff committed any wrongdoing and ordered payment of the compensation.
