Qatar Chamber will celebrate on April 28 the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
Ministers, businessmen, members of the Chamber’s board of directors and directors of local and foreign companies in Qatar will participate in the event.
On the sidelines of the celebration to be held at Sheraton Doha Hotel, Qatar Chamber will launch a book on “The country’s achievements on occupational safety.”
During the book launch, awards of excellence will be given to institutions proven to be distinct in the field of occupational health and safety.
The initiative would stimulate enterprises and individuals to excellence in compliance with the requirements and standards of occupational safety and health, in addition to reduction of accident rates and work-related injuries.
The move aims also at creating an environment of competition in this field and encouraging interest in the safety of the work environment and health of the workforce in Qatar.
Awards will be allocated to the best safety consultant, safety award for the best contractor in the large companies category, the best contractor for medium-sized companies and the award for the best workers in the safety field.
Chairman of Qatar Chamber HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani said the Chamber’s initiative in marking the World Day for Safety and Health at Work underlines its keenness, along with other organisations in the state, on the health and safety of workers who are viewed as a human wealth through which progress and development would be enhanced.
He said that the state is witnessing significant economic growth, which requires the help of large numbers of skilled labour, especially since Qatar has taken upon itself to adhere to the highest standards in the production and delivery of services in accordance with international standards.
