Ooredoo, which is set to participate in the Omanisation Career Fair (OCF) in Muscat from April 20 to 22, will discuss its Omanisation initiatives, the employment scene in Oman and scope for visitors at the event. Ooredoo Oman is majority-owned by Qatar’s Ooredoo.
Ooredoo prioritises the development of local talent and has already undertaken a competency-based assessment of its resources. With individual development plans in place, Ooredoo continuously invests in competency enhancement programmes, according to a statement.
“Our Omanisation programme is reported to, reviewed and monitored by our board members on a monthly basis. We have seen a positive growth in the telecom sector and are, to a large extent, able to meet our Omanisaiton aspirations. We see an improvement in the skill levels of nationals and this significantly contributes to improving industry-related skills across Oman,” said Salma al-Harthy, department head, People Resourcing, Ooredoo.
The company aims to attract more qualified nationals who will help the business achieve its goals at OCF. “Careers fairs like OCF are also a recruitment channel that present several potential benefits to the companies that attend them. There is also the added benefit of these fairs to meet people face to face and connect with the youth,” added al-Harthy.
Other key participants at the event include companies such as TeO and MHD, the statement adds. OCF 2015 takes place at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.
