A burns victim is fighting for his life following a fight in south London on Friday morning thought to be linked to the stabbing of a teenager.
Gang police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, which detectives have connected to a fight in Fulham 10 minutes earlier - at about 12.40am. Witnesses described seeing a man being “dragged” into a car, and a 19-year-old man was found stabbed at the scene.
The man was found in Beverley Way, near Raynes Park, Kingston.
“We sent an ambulance crew to the scene and treated a man reported to be in his 20s for facial burns,” an ambulance spokeswoman told the Standard. “He was taken as a priority to hospital.”
She was unable to confirm whether the man had been conscious when paramedics arrived.
Meanwhile the scene - at the junction with Huntley Way - remains taped off.
“All kicking off with forensic teams in Raynes Park and I can’t even get out of my road,” tweeted Olly Laws.
A neighbour told the Wimbledon Guardian: “Don’t know what’s happened but no one can get out of my road to go to work by car as police won’t let them.
“All they said is there’s been a serious incident that’s life threatening and that it’s a crime scene.”
Officers on patrol found the burns victim near a parked silver Mercedes in Beverley Way. When they approached, it sped off, and despite a car chase police were unable to track it down.
lA teenager was sent a “disgusting” sex proposition by a man she had asked for a babysitting job.
Now 18-year-old Maisie Galley, of Beckenham, south London, has seen her tweet capturing the pervert’s message go viral, with more than 15,000 people “favouriting” it.
Galley spotted the job on classified ads site Craigslist on Monday, the News Shopper reported.
But after sending the man - who did not specify his children’s ages - a CV, she was given not a job offer but a rather more explicit invitation.
“Of course I applied for what I thought was a babysitting ad,” she said, “but it was an old man wanting sex with a babysitter”.
The message she received reads: “You should dress in school uniform. Naughty babysitter.”
The sex pest added: “Could I see [a] picture of you?”
In an e-mail to the News Shopper, the man said it was “ridiculous” that Galley’s tweet had gone viral.
“Was worth a try,” he added. “Won’t be doing it again.”
lA man has been arrested after CCTV footage apparently captured him punching a toddler in the face in a supermarket.
Justin Whittington, 23, is accused of child endangerment after the incident in California, according to the New York Daily News.
The one minute video appears to show a man chasing a small child through the Vest Market before striking him in the face.
The child then falls to the floor and appears to be dragged to his feet before being led away by a woman.
Harry Dindral, who owns the shop, told the New York Daily News: “That was horrible, man. The worst thing I’ve ever seen.”
Whittington was charged after the shocking footage appeared online.
The child, reported to be his son, was examined by doctors but did not require hospital treatment.
lA man was reportedly splashed in the face with a “chemical” and taken to hospital with facial injuries.Police could not immediately tell the Standard whether the events were connected.
London Ambulance Service confirmed paramedics were sent to the Goals football centre in New Malden, south London, at about 8.40pm on Thursday after reports of an “incident”.
“We sent two ambulance crews to the scene,” said a spokeswoman. “Somebody else, a friend, took the patient to hospital with a facial injury.”
The Standard could not ascertain whether the man reached hospital or what condition he was in.
No details were available about the age or gender of the person.
Police today confirmed the 19-year-old had been released from hospital. An unnamed witness told the Wimbledon Guardian: “A man in his early 20s was attacked by his opposing team member and had a chemical splashed in his face.
“Not quite sure what it was - smelt like an alcoholic-based chemical.”
Natt Wilson, duty manager at Goals, told the paper there had been “a game of football that got a bit out of control”.
Police could not confirm details of the Goals incident, and the football centre could not immediately be contacted for comment.
