Doha

As many as 125,000 building number plates have been installed across Qatar as part of the "My Address" system being implemented by the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP), local Arabic daily Al Arab has reported.
The plates are installed by the Centre for Geographic Information Systems (CGIS) under MMUP, which is planning to cover all the buildings in the country during the current year.
Aa-Mmir al-Humaidy, the chief of Planning and Projects in the CGIS, explained there is a permanent mechanism to update the data and installation of the plates on the buildings. The information in this regard is obtained in co-ordination with the General Directorate of Civil Defence, Internal Security Force, the National Command Centre of the Ministry of Interior, Qatar Statistics Authority, Q-Post, Kahramaa and all the municipalities.
According to a report issued by MMUP about the benefits of the system, it would connect between the call centres of the security systems for quick access to any location in case of a requirement, the daily added.
