J League managing director Daisuke Nakanishi and Takeyuki Oya of the league’s Asia Office visited QSL’s headquarters at Al Bidda tower and then watched the AFC Champions League match between home side Al Sadd and Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv.

The Qatar Stars League (QSL) and its Japanese counterpart, the J League, continued to develop their ongoing relationship this week, as the J League delegation visited the QSL’s headquarters at Al Bidda tower on Tuesday.
The delegation was made up of two representatives, who after leaving the QSL’s headquarters went to watch the AFC Champions League match between local team Al Sadd and Uzbek side Lokomotiv, which ended with an emphatic 6-2 win for the home side.
J League managing director Daisuke Nakanishi and Takeyuki Oya of the league’s Asia Office arrived in Doha on March 16.
During their short trip the Japanese delegation also visited the world famous Aspire Academy facilities at the Aspire Zone.
The main aim of the trip to Qatar was so that the Japanese delegation could pay a return visit as well as discuss areas where the J League and QSL co-operation might be increased.
An agreement was reached to draft a memorandum of understanding between the two football leagues.
The two Leagues will aim to assist each other in various areas of football development, including, league development, sharing knowledge and know-how of professional football, how to best utilise the World Cup for the development of the domestic league, co-hosting seminars with J League clubs and local governments who have hosted the World Cup, training camps etc., sharing know-how of managing and operating the World Cup from the league’s point of view, inviting potential LOC staffs to Japan to observe operations, introducing Qatari campaigns and the Qatar Stars League at J League matches and exchanging information and setting up friendly matches at youth level.
