As part of the Active Qatar Campaign, Qatar will host the International Islamic Triathlon on March 14.
The event includes shooting, swimming and equestrian. Competitions will be staged in Sealine area. Valuable prizes have been dedicated to the event this year reaching a total of QR2mn.
The International Islamic Triathlon is organised this year as part of the Sport Sector Strategy projects (2011-2016). The campaign comprises of up to 30 activities across the months of the year.
They include sport and recreation activities targeting all sections of society, including for people with special needs.
The previous edition of the International Islamic Triathlon saw the participation of 70 competitors. In the senior category, the winner was Mohamed Zayed Abu al-Haj from Qatar, while Khalid Sanad al-Naimi finished second and Qatar’s Mhana Mohamed al-Dosari finished third. In the youth category, Sami Abdulghani al-Wajeh from Yemen came first, followed by Mohamed Salem Mohamed al-Marri and Rashed Mohamed al-Naimi of Qatar.
