Media awareness symposium held
Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science recently organised an educational symposium themed ‘Media awareness and national affiliation’, in co-operation with Doha Centre for Media Freedom (DCMF). Speaking at the opening session of the symposium, Dr Hamda Hassan al-Sulaiti, secretary-general of the National Committee for Education, Culture and Science said the era of so-called connectivity and information revolution should encourage everyone to keep up with these rapid developments “through our mechanisms, multimedia and information technology”. Hamda added that “we must also prepare and qualify our cadres and activate all forms of media co-operation, coordination and information with our sisterly states, Arab and international organisations so we can deal with realities and to develop as a knowledge society and information industry”.
The organisation of the symposium is part of the commission’s efforts to qualify, educate and upgrade Qatari citizens’ skills to deal  with  the flow of information that is being generated by the media round the clock and provide an opportunity for students to participate in various outreach activities, Hamda added.
