The problem of accumulation of construction waste continues in residential areas, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.

Besides being an eyesore, such debris also becomes a source of dust and poses a health hazard to children as well as adults living in the vicinity, the daily adds.

Dozens of residents of Al Hilal have complained that some contracting companies leave behind construction waste by the roadside or next to villas and other residential buildings after excavation and project work.

They have contended that a committee be formed to supervise the execution and delivery of such projects and ensure the removal of all construction debris, according to the report.

Some families have pointed out that such waste is sometimes left unattended for months before their eventual removal in response to numerous complaints by residents.

Referring to Al Hilal as an example of an affected area, the residents stressed that the presence of construction waste in residential areas damages the environment and poses a threat to human health, the daily further states.
