Hamad International Airport (HIA) organised various sport activities at the airport yesterday to mark National Sport Day.
Organised under the theme “Your Health, Your Journey, Our Mission,” they included a sport activity booth with mini golf and mini football with prizes for winners.
The activities at the booth were designed to suit all genders and ages, encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, engage passengers while creating awareness about the importance and benefits of sport in the daily life. All activities were hosted by HIA employees.
The airport also organised a step counting activity to encourage walking as a form of exercise that can be easily incorporated into everyday lives, even when travelling.
From the time passengers entered the terminal until they got to their boarding gates, the number of steps passengers took and the distance they walked were counted, and the information was displayed on every boarding gate for passengers to see before they boarded their flight.
HIA also organised a Sport Day social media contest where participants were asked to submit pictures of themselves participating in a sporty or healthy activity to win prizes, including access to the Oryx Lounge, HIA Vitality Spa’s pool, gym and squash court as well as shopping and restaurant vouchers at Qatar Duty Free.
The airport has also been posting health tips in association with Hamad Medical Corporation as a way to encourage their followers to live a healthy and active lifestyle by making small positive changes to their life which can lead to living a full healthy and happy life.
HIA also launched Sport Day inspired videos shot at the airport featuring HIA staff as a way to promote health and sports. These videos were displayed on the airport media screens and on HIA’s social media pages.
“Our passengers enjoyed the activities and made great use of their time in HIA, whether they were transiting through or departing from Doha,” said Badr al-Meer, chief operating officer.
“The message we have conveyed through these activities is that sports and fitness must be considered a way of life. Every day is another opportunity to live a healthier life that people must not miss,” he added.
