The School of Health Sciences (SHS) at College of the North Atlantic – Qatar has recognised 97 of their students in the second Crest ceremony, which welcomed them to the Health Sciences family.
Dr Faleh Mohamed Hussain Ali, assistant secretary general for policy affairs at the Supreme Council of Health shared his 20 years of healthcare knowledge with the newest students and encouraged them to be proud of their chosen career.
“You are about to embark on a wonderful journey, to be a part of a profession that is a society…a family. Your role in the healthcare community is an invaluable one. The current hospital system is based on the expertise of allied healthcare practitioners.”
The Crest recipients are all current students in one of CNA-Q’s eight Health Sciences programmes, Advanced Care Paramedicine, Dental Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Environmental Health Science, Medical Radiography Technology, Patient Education, Pharmacy Technician and Respiratory Therapy.
Dr Ken MacLeod, president, CNA-Q, told the students: “When you leave CNA-Q, you will be an allied health professional and you will be a part of a family that has dedicated their lives to help others in pain, in distress, in suffering and in need of your very special skills.”
The CNA-Q SHS Crest was presented to students from industry of their individual programmes.
Two successful alumni were among the presenters of the CNA-Q SHS Crest. Ashwaq al-Malki and Hissa Mohamed presented crests for the Public Health and the Medical Radiography students on behalf of Q-Chem and Diagnostic Imaging Department at Hamad Medical Corporation respectively. Other ceremony participants represented the Primary Health Care Corporation; Hamad Medical Corporation’s Ambulance Services; Sidra Medical and Research Center and Qatar Petroleum.
Irene O’Brien, dean of the School of Health Sciences, reiterated the partnership between CNA-Q, industry and the State of Qatar in ensuring an educated healthcare community.
