Doha

For the first time this winter, most parts of Qatar received substantial rains on Sunday evening, slowing down traffic in Doha and suburbs.

The Met office has forecast chances of further rains across the country on Monday, accompanied by thunder and lightning. It will also be windy and colder.

While Abu Samra is expected to be the coldest at 11C, temperature may vary between 12C and 17C in other places. In Doha, the maximum and minimum would be 17C and 13C while Al Khor temperatures could be anywhere between 12C and 16C.

The atmosphere would remain cloudy or partly cloudy and chances of slight dust are on the forecast. The general visibility is expected to be considerably lesser with a possibility of it falling to below 3km in many places, especially during the rains.

The weatherman has also foreseen the chances of moderate to strong winds both on the inshore and offshore areas. The offshore areas may witness northwesterly winds of a magnitude of upto 35 knots, and inshore it could be anywhere between 22 and 30 knots.

The sea is expected to be stormy and volatile with the chances of water rising up to 13ft at times offshore. Inshore areas may witness sea reaching up to five ft in height.
