Some of the private medical centres that have entered into contract with the National Health Insurance Company (NHIS) face crisis
due to delay in payment by NHIS for months, local Arabic daily Al Sharq reported.
They pointed out that it was very difficult to continue their operations and will have to terminate the services of medical
staff, including doctors and nurses. Some of these centres even face closure if this situation continues resulting in disputes
between the owners and their staff.
Officials of some health centres confirmed that they have not received payment for the services since last June. They cited
that payments are due within 45 days as per the agreement and such delay prevents them from paying rents and salaries.
The officials stated that the dues to the smaller health centres amounted to QR60,000 to QR70,000 per month while larger centres
have to get dues in excess of QR200,000 monthly.
The failure on the part NHIS in ensuring prompt payment has caused severe crisis for the owners of the health centres, they
added.
