Qatar Tennis Federation Secretary General, Yousef Mohammad al-Obaidly said yesterday that preparation for the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, which will start next week, was progressing well and that sponsors continued to give their valuable support to the tournament.

“The 2015 Qatar ExxonMobil Open is in its 23rd year on the world calendar and is an ideal way to showcase great tennis and the nation of Qatar. The QTF are very pleased with our continued relationship with Ooredoo and their support of what is a great tournament and portrays our country, Qatar to the world as a great sporting location.

The tournament gets stronger every year starting from the field of play to the organisation of the event and our association with a quality and well established brand such as Ooredoo who are a gold sponsor is also a strong one,” said al-Obaidly at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex.

Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi, Chief Executive Officer, Ooredoo Global Services, said: “Supporting sports in Qatar is a major initiative for Ooredoo, as we encourage young people to becoming the next generation of sporting stars.

This three year sponsorship will give us and the Qatar Tennis Federation a chance to attract the truly diverse communities of Qatar to take an interest in tennis.”

The pioneer Qatari telecom led by Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Thani, has been an old supporter of tennis in the country and worked in close co-ordination with the Qatar Tennis Federation for many years.

The sponsorship agreement was signed by; Yousuf Abdulla al-Kubaisi Chief Executive Officer at Ooredoo Global Services and Yousef  Mohammed al-Obaildly the Secretary General at QTF.

According to the new agreement, Ooredoo will be providing telecommunication infrastructure during the Qatar ExxonMobil Open at the venue to ensure smooth media reporting all over the world. The visitors can also enjoy access to 3G and 4G services of Ooredoo.

The 2015 Qatar ExxonMobil Open will be held 5-10 January with qualifying 3-4 January. All matches will be played at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex.
