The new season of talent hunt for Nepalese singers in Qatar is going to start with the first auditions scheduled  for tomorrow in the hall of Nepalese Cultural Center (NCC). Jointly organised by Nepalese Cultural Family (NCF) and Rupendehi Service Initiative (RSI), ‘Search for Nepalese Singing Idols’ expects increased number of participants for this season.

During a pre-function programme recently held at Quality Hypermarket, Salwa Road, organisers said the registration is open till the first day of the audition. The pre-function event was well received by around 500 Nepalese entrepreneurs, musicians, music lovers and young artists.

Last year, Tamu Society—Qatar had organised a similar programme in which hundreds of nonresident Nepalese singers had participated and winners had bagged their prizes.

During the pre-function chaired by NCF chairman Sanjaya Rajak, entrepreneur and nonresident Nepalese leader R K Sharma was chief guest. Several popular artists preformed. QN Band, Nonresident Nepalese Idol Birendra Shrestha, folk singer Kavita Tamang, Chhabilal Magar, Bijay Shahi, Prem Gurung and Chitwan Idol runner-up Navaraj Shrestha entertained the crowd with their popular songs.

First vice president of Nonresident Nepalese Association (NRNA) —-USA Lok Nath Tiwari, vice president of Expatriate Nepalese Forum (ENF) Chanak Pokhrel, sub general secretary of Nepalese Public Relations Committee (NPRC) Aziz Ali, president of Baglung Service Society (BSS) Ramesh Bhatta, president of Arghakhanchi Service Society (ASS) Yubraj Pandey, entrepreneur Narendra Sen Thakuri and treasurer of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ—Qatar) Ghanshyam Parajuli among others were present in the programme.

According to co-ordinator Shakti Chhetri, Search for Nepalese Singing Idols expects to discover an exceptional solo voice during its talent hunt which would be further groomed and promoted for the larger audience. Entrepreneur R K Sharma praised the organisers for helping to promote Nepalese art and music. He contributed QR5,000 to the programme. Likewise, young philanthropist Ishwor Kafle and Raju Bhattarai contributed QR4,000 and QR1,000 respectively while Dil Sunuwar and Umakant Pokhrel donated QR500 each.

The title winner will bag NPR 100,000 (QR3618 ) and will get an opportunity to record his/her songs along with certificate. First and second runner ups will receive NPR 50,000 (QR1809) and NPR 25,000 (QR904) respectively with six months of free music classes and certificates to both.

The final audition will be held in Volleyball Tournament Hall of Al Arabia Club. According to the organisers, half of the funds raised from the programme will go to the charity of Nepalese street children. Singers Deepak Limbu, Devika KC and Santosh Gurung will be on the judge panel for the audition.
