Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) is allocating an ambulance and a medical team for the events being held at the Darb Al Saai grounds over two weeks to celebrate Qatar National Day.
The place sees a huge turnout of people from all segments of Qatari society, with families coming to enjoy the artistic, cultural, heritage and recreational events there.
QRC’s ambulance vehicles and staff provide medical coverage in the celebration area in co-ordination with the organisers.  Cases that require urgent medical intervention, either by providing instant treatment or by referring the case to the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) emergency unit will be reported through radio communication
Meanwhile, a march was organised across Darb Al Saai for workers of state welfare institutions that work to serve the public not only during the National Day celebrations but also through the year, including QRC, HMC, the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and Doha Municipality.
The procession started from one of the gates of Darb Al Saai, beginning with Lekhwiya officers on their electric tricycles, followed by QRC paramedic bikers, walking groups of QRC doctors and paramedics, HMC doctors and nurses, municipality workers, HMC club car and ambulance and, finally, QRC ambulances.
The march took place around Darb Al Saai and stopped in the central space, where a huge Qatari flag was raised and fireworks went off amid clapping and waving of Qatari flags by those present.
Dr Hassan Fadel Daloul, QRC Health and Care co-ordinator and supervisor of medical coverage at Darb Al Saai, said it is very important that QRC sends paramedics to cover such public events to ensure the safety and security of all visitors and staff members of all ages.
According to him, 10 cases have been reported, mostly involving children. These were minor cases that were treated immediately, except for one case that required referral to the HMC emergency unit.
He said QRC paramedics are available at Darb Al Saai throughout the celebrations from 7am to 11pm.
