Condolences to Belgian king

HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday offered condolences of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani to King Philip of Belgium on the death of former Belgian Queen Fabiola. HE Sheikh Joaan also offered condolences to members of the royal family during the funeral service held at the Belgian capital Brussels yesterday and attended by a number of dignitaries and officials.

QA to receive first

A350 on Dec 22

The first delivery of Airbus’s next-generation Airbus A350-900, to Qatar Airways, is to take place December 22, the European manufacturer announced yesterday, according to an AFP report. Airbus yesterday sent invitations for the formal handover ceremony in the southwestern French city of Toulouse, where its headquarters is located.  The A350, whose wings and fuselage are made of carbon fibre, is designed to save up to 25% in fuel consumption while serving long-range routes.

Qatar is set to launch huge investment projects in all fields as part of its preparations for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup as well as its development projects, Qatar’s permanent representative in Geneva Faisal bin Abdullah al-Henzab said. He was speaking at a meeting of the Arab-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Geneva. The meeting was part of efforts to enhance economic and commercial co-operation between Qatar and Switzerland and to brief Swiss businessmen on the economic situation and investment opportunities in Qatar.
