A 32-year-old Indian expatriate died of heart attack while playing cricket at a school ground in Madinat Khalifa North Friday morning.
The deceased, Pramod Therayil, was working as an electrician in a contracting firm, one of his friends said.
A native of Veliyankode in Malappuram district, Kerala, Therayil was positioned on the outfield when he complained of chest pain. He collapsed immediately and was rushed to the hospital. He died before reaching the hospital, a friend of his said.
The death came on Therayil's wedding anniversary, his friend said. Therayil had become a father earlier this year. He returned from vacation only about two months ago, after seeing the newborn. Efforts are on to transport his body to his native place.
