Volvo’s Sensus Connect system is on display at the ongoing ITU Telecom World 2014. |
The Sensus Connect system “revolutionises” the way people use vehicles and the driving experience, according to a statement. Sensus Connect was designed as a human-centric device with Volvo’s aim to streamline people’s daily obligations, allow more free time and make the drive safe and enjoyable.
Volvo’s “unique” infotainment system - Sensus Connect - has the ability to transform the car’s 7” display screen into a connected media centre with touch function, giving the owner “outstanding possibilities”, the statement explains.
The system can be operated via the touchscreen, the steering wheel or the centre stack controls and will connect to the Internet via a Bluetooth-paired smartphone, Wi-Fi access point or a USB. It also makes it possible to share a Wi-Fi network with everyone in the car.
Maintaining its focus on safety and comfort, users can stream music through their dashboard. The system is either touch- or voice-activated, with the drivers being able to start music simply by saying the name of a song.
Offering customers a “fully connected” experience, it also includes a unique Park & Pay solution, enabling users to pay for parking from their smartphones. The Sensus Connect navigation system also allows the driver to find nearby restaurants without leaving the comfort of their Volvo. Drivers can also input destinations and check local surrounding via Wikipedia, the statement adds.
Sensus Connected Touch is a standard feature in most versions of Volvo, including V40, S60, XC60 and S80.
ITU Telecom World 2014, held with the support of Ooredoo, concludes today at Qatar National Convention Centre.
