The debates and conversations that have started this year in Doha are set to continue in Europe next year, as ITU has announced that the ITU Telecom World 2015 event will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from October 12 to 15, 2015.

“With its strategic location at the heart of Europe, Budapest provides the ideal vantage point from which to explore not only the latest ICT developments in major European markets but also in other dynamic markets such as those in the CIS or southeastern Europe,” said ITU secretary-general Hamadoun I Touré.

“We look forward to building on the key themes and discussions, which are unfolding this year in Doha, and follow them through at ITU Telecom World 2015.”

Organised by ITU, the UN specialised agency for ICTs, ITU Telecom World 2015 will be hosted by the government of Hungary and convene an audience of top-level representatives from public and private sectors from across the world.

“Hungary looks forward to welcoming delegates from across the globe to Budapest for ITU Telecom World 2015,” said Miklós Seszták, Hungary’s Minister for National
Development.

“We look forward to showcasing the potential that Hungary offers within its ICT sector and also acting as a strategic ‘bridge’ for dialogue between players from around the world.”

Key topics under discussion at ITU Telecom World 2014, and which will form the basis of discussions at ITU Telecom World 2015, include the latest developments in digital cities, artificial intelligence, wearable tech, body sensor networks, the differing uses of big data, mobile networks in the cloud, the softwarisation of network elements, bringing IT into ICT, as well as cross-sector partnerships, collaboration and co-operation.
