Qatar Airways has renewed the branding that covers FC Barcelona’s stadium, Camp Nou. The new image, which is based on the concept of ‘a team that unites the world’ – first introduced in the popular TV spot created to support the partnership – shows a design which incorporates FC Barcelona players, Qatar Airways cabin crew and an aircraft from the Qatar Airways fleet.
Javier Mascherano, Jordi Alba, Neymar Jr., Leo Messi, Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta are the representatives of the club that appear in the new facade welcoming FC Barcelona fans every time they go to the stadium to support their team.
Qatar Airways senior vice president Marketing and Corporate Communications Salam al-Shawa said: “Over the past 18 months we have enjoyed a very successful relationship with FCB and we are delighted to unveil the new branding at Camp Nou.
“As a football team adored by fans all around the world, FCB reflects the airline’s core values and we look forward to continuing to build on this great partnership.”
In addition to the new branding of the stadium, Qatar Airways also unveiled earlier this year the FC Barcelona custom-designed Boeing 777. The B777 featuring the club’s livery is flying to a number of destinations throughout the airline’s global network, including Bangkok, Singapore and Mumbai.
Qatar Airways joined a strategic three-year partnership with FC Barcelona in July 2013 that has seen the airline develop different actions together with the club that go beyond having the name of the carrier on the team jerseys.
In the year since the partnership has been in effect, the airline has launched a hugely successful partnership campaign including the Land of FCB, a TV commercial that has garnered more than eight million views from fans all over the world, officially sponsored the FC Barcelona Asia Tour, and introduced unique tour and match packages for fans looking to visit Barcelona through Qatar Airways Holidays.
The airline also recently launched the social media contest Join The Club to celebrate the first anniversary of the partnership, giving the chance to millions of fans to win exciting prizes, including Qatar Airways flights to attend an FCB match. Qatar Airways is also developing active strategies to promote Barcelona in Asia by working closely with FC Barcelona.
The airline currently operates 10 weekly non-stop flights from Barcelona to Doha, increasing to a double daily service from February 16, 2015, with great connections to points across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operation, to the point where today it is flying a modern fleet of 142 aircraft to more than 140 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
