Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail), in association with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP) - Doha Municipality, held an awards ceremony for the “Draw with Qatar Rail” competition for schoolchildren that was launched earlier this year.

The competition, aimed at creating and raising awareness on Qatar Rail’s development-oriented activities, included 1,190 students from 32 independent schools for boys, independent schools for girls, mixed schools and Shafallah Centre for Children
with Special Needs.

The awards ceremony was attended by Saad Ahmed al-Muhannadi, Qatar Rail’s CEO, and Mohamed al-Sayyed, director of Doha Municipality, as well as senior officials from both parties.

Al-Muhannadi said the programme also contributed to increasing students’ awareness about the importance of Qatar Rail’s mission in establishing modern transport concepts.

Al-Sayyed observed that Qatar Rail’s initiative allowed students to get introduced to the modern transport system, which would be available for them in the near future.

“The Doha Metro project will allow shortening distances and reducing traffic congestion in our daily lives, besides being an environment-friendly system, and this is what our young children deserve.”

The main objectives of the activity were to encourage young children to draw pictures and paintings related to Qatar Rail. The company plans to display the best drawings on billboards near its construction sites soon. During the ceremony, the drawings of 116 selected winners were displayed.
