HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani met the President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama at the Ritz- Carlton Hotel yesterday.

During the meeting they reviewed areas of co-operation between the two countries and means of developing them as well as matters of mutual concern.

Meanwhile, President Mahama and his accompanying delegation visited the Museum of Islamic Art yesterday.

President Mahama toured the various sections of the MIA and admired the collection of Islamic antiquities and rare art and heritage items including books, manuscripts and coins made of silver, copper and bronze, as well as articles made of glass, ivory, textiles, wood, and gems and art collected from three continents dating back 14 centuries.

The Ghanaian president was briefed about the museum and its role in the dissemination of knowledge, culture, encouragement of creativity and communication with world cultures and arts.

Following the tour, the Ghanaian president signed the Museum’s guests register.

 Earlier yesterday,  President Mahama visited Aspire Zone Foundation. He said he was impressed by Aspire Zone, which he described as an architectural art piece and a great sports project.

“I wish I could take Aspire to my country”, President Mahama told QNA.

With these sports facilities, the State of Qatar can host any major sports tournament, he said adding that Ghana has received the news of Qatar winning the bid to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup football with happiness.

“We look forward to the World Cup in Qatar, he said expressing hope for his country’s national team to qualify for international tournament “in order to enjoy these wonderful facilities.”

President John Dramani toured Aspire Zone accompanied by Aspire’s CEO Khalid Abdullah al-Sulaiteen, Vice-President Tariq al-Naama and, and Aspire Academy Director General Ivan Bravo who briefed him on different facilities.
