The heads of GCC advisory councils concluded their 8th meeting yesterday in Doha with the approval of a number of decisions related to issues on the meeting’s agenda.

The meeting was chaired by HE the Speaker of the Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.

Among the important decisions taken during the meeting were the approval of Bahrain’s recommendation on the co-ordination of media foreign policy of the GCC legislatures, strengthening relations with international organisations, and the endorsement of organisational regulation of the GCC committee and mandate that committee in co-ordination with the Secretariat General to prepare a mechanism that enables it to carry out its functions clearly and precisely.

The meeting also approved a decision to form a joint committee to boost relations with the European Parliament (EP), and reviewed the annual report of the 7th meeting chaired by Kuwait’s National Assembly Speaker Marzouq al-Ghanim.

The participants stressed their keenness on strengthening economic integration among the GCC States and approved the mechanism of joint action. 

In his speech during the closing session, HE al-Khulaifi praised the outcome and decisions of the meeting.

Speaker of Oman’s Shura Council Khalid bin Hilal al-Mawali thanked HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani for supporting the efforts that enhance GCC relations. The ninth meeting will be held in Oman next year.
