Qatar CSR 2014 launched its 2nd Annual Conference in Doha at Marriott Marquis City Center. The event will continue until tomorrow, having assigned the first two days to various notable speakers and concluding its third day with a series of workshops.
Among the extensively planned agenda yesterday was a segment specific to Sports and CSR; a topic only recently becoming a norm in the world of Corporate Social Responsibility. Panellists included Dr Saif Ali al-Hajari – President of Qatar Olympic Sport and Environment, Hamad al-Kuwari – Deputy Director of Marketing and Communication for Qatar Football Association and Dalal al-Dossary – Founder and Managing Director at IMPACT CSR Solutions.
Dalal al-Dossary, expert consultant and founder of the only CSR sport agency in the Gulf region, highlighted crucial points impacting one’s CSR journey: both negatively and positively. She began her talk thanking 2014 Qatar CSR for inviting her for the second time, and showing appreciation in providing sport CSR a voice.
She added, “As I prepared for this event, both last year and this year, I try my utmost to bring forth practical knowledge in the hopes to benefit others. I am also eager to highlight the doors of opportunity many are entirely unaware of.”
She proceeded to speak on the topic, “Why do some succeed in CSR, while others fail?” Her interactive discussion drew awareness to paying attention to the many overlooked details that are essential to the success of CSR. She showcased the necessary steps and direction to succeed in social responsibility.
Al-Dossary also analysed why some sport associations are not quite hitting the mark and are failing to receive the most out of their CSR programme(s) despite strong efforts put forth.
It is noteworthy to mention that al-Dossary was selected last year to set Al’Ata Awards criteria for  Saudi’s sports sector market, as well she assisted Al Sadd Sports Club in becoming the first Arab sport entity to receive the Golden Peacock Global Award 2013. Alongside that, she also appeared in the White Book as one of CSR’s pioneers within the GCC.
