QNB has introduced its latest “Mobile Point-of-Sales” (mPOS) solution, the bank’s software solution designed to support merchants’ growth. |
The mPOS is QNB’s latest card acceptance solution that uses a compact, highly-secured card reader that connects and transforms the merchant’s smartphone or tablet into a fully-certified EMV (Europay, MasterCard, and Visa) chip and PIN mobile payment terminal.
QNB Group general manager (Retail) Heba al-Tamimi said, “The mPOS solution has shown potential in the international market where merchants of all sizes can accept payments using their mobile phones.”
By using mobile data, mPOS empowers merchants to accept card payments directly from their customers in a fast and secured environment. It was perceived to be a simple and convenient way for customers to pay anywhere and at any time.
She added, “Customers’ experience is enriched with the ease of making payments at any store location or at their doorstep, which results in increased customer loyalty. The technology will provide retailers such as delivery, merchants at exhibitions, VIP services, transportation, and restaurants with a new payment channel that is easy to install.”
The solution, which is powered by Swiftech, was developed by Mathema Technology. This solution can be customised according to individual merchant needs and is compatible across iOS and Android platforms of any smart device. In conjunction with Bluetooth-enabled card readers, the solution allows merchants to accept payments in a secured environment.
The QNB mPOS will not only address micro and small merchants with card acceptance functionality but also big retailers’ POS requirement with a robust mobile POS solution that enables integration with complex backend systems, in addition to supporting all types of cards.
“The launch of the mPOS platform is yet another first in Qatar initiated by QNB,” the bank said.
