Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has announced that it will organise the sixth edition of Heya Exhibition, the largest expo of Khaliji and Arab abaya and women’s fashion in the region, from November 17 to 22 at Doha Exhibition Centre.
Approximately 50% of the exhibitors will be Qatari women designers showcasing their latest abaya fashion while the rest will come from the other GCC states.
The exhibition is expected to be visited by more than 70,000 people from Qatar and the Gulf countries, QTA has said in a statement, adding that 65,000 people visited the fifth edition of the exhibition last year.
Through this annual event, QTA seeks to raise awareness among all targeted groups and stakeholders about Qatar as an ideal destination, offering a business-friendly environment for exhibitions and providing facilities that make it a leading local and regional MICE hub, in addition to its leisure and entertainment offerings. Such events also provide an opportunity for short-term and long-term business deals, the statement notes.
“QTA seeks to present everything new in the exhibitions industry in terms of both organisation and quality of the exhibited products. We were encouraged to organise Heya Exhibition because it attracts a significant segment of the GCC community, resulting in an increase in the number of visitors to Qatar,” said Hamad al-Abdan, director of exhibitions at QTA.
“Through such events, QTA works to build a mutually beneficial partnership with stakeholders in the MICE sector. While exhibitions add value to their businesses, develop the industry and support promotional activities in Qatar and abroad, they help QTA promote Qatar as a tourism destination in the region. All this will reflect positively on the Qatari economy,” added al-Abdan.
Heya (Arabic for she) is a unique exhibition showcasing the finest designs and latest trends in the world of Khaliji abayas, Arabic kaftans and evening gowns for women in Qatar and the region.
The exhibition is part of QTA’s efforts to build a sustainable tourism sector in Qatar.
Set up across 5,000sq m, the event will consist of 220 pavilions for exhibitors from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
